FOR PATIENTS

Resource Information for Individuals Suffering with
Acute, Chronic or Neoplastic Pain

Constant, long- term pain is a fact of life for many individuals. If you have had pain persisting beyond the usual course of a disease or beyond a reasonable time for an injury, you are suffering from chronic pain. It usually has lasted for three months or more and has become a continuous focal point.

Traditional treatment programs often yield limited or unsatisfactory results. Perhaps you have taken standard pain medications and they may have been effective, but they have to be maintained over time, becoming costly and subject to side effects and addiction.

Advance Pain Care is taking a different approach in conjunction with a group of anesthesiologists, specially trained in pain medicine from The Texas Institute of Pain Medicine. A comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to the treatment of patients with chronic, acute, or neoplastic pain is provided through a diagnostic continuum of care.

Part of this approach includes working with your primary care physician or referring physician so that you have a continuity of care. To avoid duplication of costly tests and to make sure we have your complete medical history, your referring physician is asked to provide all your medical records to us. In turn, Advanced Pain Care provides you referring physician with an initial report outlining the planned therapeutic program, as well as subsequent progress reports. Upon completion of treatment, Advanced Pain Care provides a final summation to the referring physician to assure the most effective aftercare.

What Sets Our Organization Apart from Other Pain Management Organizations?

The primary difference between Advanced Pain Care and other pain management providers is one of physician qualifications and experience. Board certification in pain medicine is a primary requirement of The Texas Institute of Pain Medicine and Advanced Pain Care. These physicians demonstrate proficiency of highly technical pain medicine. This is achieved by qualifying for board certification by the most respected credentialing bodies. Beyond board certification as anesthesiologist, specialty certification is available through the American Board of Anesthesiology as Certificate of Added Qualification in Pain Management or by the American Board of Pain Medicine. The American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology also offers Added Qualification in Pain Management, and the American Academy of Pain Management provides additional board certification to pain specialists.
