Pain Pointers: Learn more about headaches

H eadaches (HA):

HA are most commonly muscular, or vascular in nature, or a combination of the two. Environmental stress modifies and controls the physical etiologies. Most "garden variety" HA are muscular in origin. Characteristically, muscular HA are occipital (posterior/back) in original location. Many, if not most, persons experience these types of HA in their daily lives. On occasion, the HA are caused by vascular phenomena, usually vasodilatation/constriction cycles. As the blood vessels inside your head dilate, the pressure rises and that rise in pressure is partially responsible for the pain in your head. Aura, or visual, gastrointestinal, and auditory symptoms prior to the headache, commonly result from the cyclic vasoconstriction. More commonly than not, the common headache is a mixture of the above two types.

At Advanced Pain Care Center, the common causes of your headache will be analyzed and treated. Initially, a review of all previous attempts at treatment of you HA will be done in order to determine why nothing has been successful thus far. After appropriate diagnosis, therapy will commence.
